Touring Ebay thread

Postby rangersac » Mon May 12, 2014 1:57 pm

As an excuse to start this thread I saw this which looks like a pretty good deal for anyone in Perth.

I tried placing a photo but too big and makes the page annoyingly wide.

Well if you can do pickup to get around the excessive postage then this seller is getting rid of a bike rack for $40 that would sell better if described as a Tubus Logo rear. worth $100. Live anywhere near Shalvey NSW and want a good touring rack?

Similar bad presentation is this HP Velotechnik Scorpion recumbent trike with all the bells and whistles. The name is misspelt, nowhere is it called a recumbent, I only spotted it as it came up in the browser sidebar as a local bike for something else I was looking at and if you try to find it by searching 'trike' you get the plethora of plastic kiddie Trike-shaped-objects. Putting 'recumbent' in the title opens up the market a whole lot. Barely mentions that has Rohloff, 2 SON dynamo hubs, the Ortlieb Recumbent panniers, and a lower price if you don't want certain items (but is posted with the highest price). I'm guessing that it won't sell this month and I'm looking forward to when the seller starts parting out bits.

Nice find. Interesting that it has two SON hubs. Nicely specced trike but.

I saw a lot of these Surly bikes and frames popping up on Ebay after Dirtworks finally started selling their old stock under the website Clickbike. Clickbike still has the 62cm LHT 26" in stock for $360. I saw that all the Krampus bikes in large at Clickbike went then weeks later popped up on Ebay at 'bargain' prices compared to the LBSs but still $900 more than bought from Clickbike. Now the various LHT models are showing up. Ebay is a business, I guess.

Now that I've seen that Surly are bringing out the World Troller model for '2015' I'm saving my money.

I'd like them to do a trucker for Rohloff speedhubs.
