I have just looked up the Malvern Star website after seeing a quite tasty steel framed M.S. cyclocross bike in Clarence St. Cyclery in Sydney CBD, and was very surprised to see the complete lack of road bikes available.
It seems they are going down the route of every budget brand, and it makes me wonder how long they will survive as a brand if that is what they have to offer.
Sad, but I suppose that is business.

They changed their course completely last year and move to nostalgia style bikes and ditched the road racing bikes.
Though I used to spot a few about - I understand that they were 'open mould' type frames which means that the frames were generic (and you may see other identical frames under other brands). Please correct me if this is wrong. Open moulds are not poorer (unless the frame is poorly made) though is not unique to the brand.
That means they they weren't carrying a strong and individual identity as they rejuvenated the Oppy on the back of days gone by.
