Auto shut off, power off questions

Postby tez001 » Sat Oct 18, 2014 12:56 pm

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone knows what happens to the data recorded if a edge unit is turned off or auto shuts down before the save data button is pressed?

For example if I go on a ride and then stop for half an hour, the unit will auto pause and then shut down after about 15 minutes due to inactivity.

Will the recorded data be lost, or will it pickup where it left off when the unit it switched back on?

it'd help to know which model it is. On my Edge 510, I can pause a ride and turn it off or let it turn off automatically. next time I power up the Edge resumes from where I left off.

There is a possibility data will be lost. Usually it works fine but sometimes you can lose data. After I lost data one day I read the manual which said to press stop, then reset to ensure data is saved before powering off (page 4 of Edge 800 Manual).

Resetting also adds extra information to the file like wireless communication stats for diagnostics.
