A crazy thing happened this morning, did my pre-ride prep, jumped on bike and hit the start button on my garmin. Just pedalling to warm up and looked down, display was off! oh well I thought, must of not plugged it in for charging and it is flat. So continued my ride.......
When I got home I plugged it in to charge and nothing, no screen, nothing.
Now it needed a upgrade to the latest software so I thought maybe this is it. So proceeded to connect the garmin to my computer, In the process I noticed the SD card was burning hot, burning my finger, so quickly took it out!!!!
Plugged the garmin into the computer and nothing, then I started the upgrade and it came to life. Okay I thought, it is not completely stuffed!
BUT every time I tried to put the SD card with the maps on into the garmin, it crashed. not good, so tried a different card no problems.
So the culprit was an internally shorted garmin SD maps card. Strange.
Anyone else experienced some thing similar?

Only the card getting scrambled when the device freezes.
I have a low-level SD card format utility that restores them to life.
The overheating is wierd - but worth putting on Strava though!
