Hi all, I have been riding around on a campy 11 speed record compact crankset with an 12-29 cassette. I have had a year of lots of climbing in steep areas. I need something more balanced now and was looking at options. My end point is roughly a mid compact crankset with an 11-27 cassette. Im a good climber, and generally like to push a big gear and am a little interested in trying Rotor Q-rings.
Is it possible to put some Campagnolo mid compact chainrings on my Campy compact record 11 speed crank?
If I wanted something roughly equivalent to a mid compact using Rotor Q-rings, would I get their 52-36 q-rings for campy compact cranks? Im not sure how their chainring sizes translate being oval shaped.
cheers!

Your current compact cranks will only accept 110 BCD sized rings so you need to be hunting for 110 BCD rings if you want to continue to use your current cranks.

I'm pretty sure the Campagnolo 52/36 set are 130 bcd.
If you are happy with your climbing prowess then the obvious and least expensive option is to keep your current crankset and switch the cassette to a 11-27 or a 11-25.

With a 36 it'll be a 110mm BCD, as the smallest that will fit on 130 is 38T. In any case, unless they've suddenly had a change to match everyone else, Campag's standard cranks are 135mm BCD, which would possibly even make a 38 hard to fit.open roader wrote:I'm pretty sure the Campagnolo 52/36 set are 130 bcd.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

thanks for the advice.. I think a 11-27 cassette might be the answer, though im tempted to try the rotor q-rings at some point
