Cool site Tony! Thanks for sharing (I don't need the strap, but I like the other stuff there!)

Cheers,
Graeme

Nice! Been using two thick rubber bands and a rolled up section of inner tube for the base, but definitely not as neat as this. What's the name of the product? It must be available elsewhere too.

These came unbranded in plain plastic bag. Contact Abbotsford Cycles for more info

Bought one of these the other week. Shipping was $1.00 from Abbotsford Cycles.

My first impressions was that it was alot thinner than I thought it would be and the rubber is pretty stretchy so doesn't seem like it holds that tight.

I attached my phone (was using the GPS on it) to my handlebars and surprisingly didn't move around much during the ride at all. Takes a little fiddling to get the position right but once it sits there it's pretty solid.

G'day

Have you tried it with your L2Ds or do you think they would work with same?

For under $10 your LBS may also stock replacement mounts for the TIOGA style bikelights.

I bought one from Boggo Road Cycles in Brisbane and they are perfect for modifying slightly to hold the CREE torch setups.....

All it takes is two small slots carefully drilled through the mounting 'rails' - dont go to hard though because there's not a HUGE amount of material there as you drill through.

Went down the garage just then and gave it a try Andrew. Just for you :) Didn't work too well. As you can see in the first pic the rubber "arms" are quite long and combined with the rubber being quite stretchy, just didn't hold the L2D tight enough. With a thicker bodied torch it could be possible but the L2D is a little to thin especially around the middle. Still prefer my lock blocks or Zefal Doodad for securing flashlights.

Cool! Thanks for the suggestion. I see how I go. I don't really need one at the moment, but it's nice to know there are other options around which are so cheap!

They are still going strong, but I don't ride in the rain - I haven't been in town when it's been raining! Chasing the sun like a grey nomad .....

The mount is also great. No problems at all with it, but as noted above, it's good to know I have other options if I decide to make some more lights.

I may end up doing that too - the little lights I have on my helmet have a wider throw than the ones I mount on the bars, so technically, they'd make better bar lights.

Cheers,
Graeme

Thanks Matt. Your answer was what I expected. Good to know but. Saved a few dollars. O-Rings seem to be doing the trick at the moment.

Thanks Graeme. I will keep those mounts in mine when if I place an order on DealExtreme.

Give them a call at Abbotsford Cycle and give them an address and credit card number. Postage was $1.00 if I remember correctly.

That's why I still loop my lanyard around the handlebars and through itself. Also who's not looking for an excuse to upgrade their phone :D

Been with 3 Mobile since 2000 (when they were Orange One) and every two years they give me a free new phone. I'm not talking "free", I'm talking free. On the monthly bill it shows as $14 payment for phone, minus $14 loyalty bonus. On top of that, as a light user they keep me on an $18/month minimum spend loyalty plan with included calls, 200 free SMS a month, etc.

This is relevant because you can get the Nokia 6110 Navigator from them if you insist that's what you need as your upgrade. They offer the 6120 Classic and a couple of non-Nokias, but in my experience they'll give you the Navigator free under the loyalty plan if you ask. And it's a GPS navigation unit (of the speaking variety, "turn left now" etc).

So if you're a long-term 3 customer due for a phone upgrade, you may be able to get a free GPS unit for your bicycle.

Same deal with Orange/ 3 here... but GPS? Can't people navigate in their own city these days without electronic, satellite driven gadgets? Loose leaf Melways maps and memory for me. Take up MTB Orienteering for practice at map reading whilst riding!
