Considering a Garmin or similar unit. Most important function is HR. I had a stroke (TIA) a cple of years ago and need to monitor HR.
1. Can I see HR on the fly in real time using the 500?
2. I use Strava - on a Samsung S4. Strava has all the info I need except HR. I don't want to use two devices. When uploading data from the Garmin to Strava can I see the same information - ie map showing the route I've taken, elevation, speed, avge and top etc... ie all the basic Strava info?
Given the Garvin 500 bundle is around $280 it does seem good value compared to say a 510 or 810.
What are your thoughts?

Yep, they are a good thing - will do all that the Android phone does, but with the addition of HR and cadence should you wish to use their cadence sensor. User programmable screens so you can decide what you see during rides, etc.

If you get Ipbike from the play store on your Samsung then that will pick up ant+ HRM (bluetooth as well) You have the latest firmware for your S4 to have ANT+.

So all I need is an ant+ or bluetooth HRM? Nicer11ss wrote:If you get Ipbike from the play store on your Samsung then that will pick up ant+ HRM (bluetooth as well) You have the latest firmware for your S4 to have ANT+.

Yes, i have tried ant+ and it works with Garmin HRM and cadence. Also works with stages power meter. I haven't tried bluetooth.
