Vintage steel

Postby Verdun » Fri Apr 18, 2014 3:05 pm

Having just finished a resto of a (cromoly) framed cruiser, I'd like to do another but of something more sporty. I have a Shimano 600 groupset so something 1980's suiting that would be good and ideally costing no more than $350-$400 for the frame and forks. Any hints on brands?

repco superlight (superlite?) were common in the 80s. Chrome moly frame and forks. You see a few of them on the verge collection when people chuck em out :)

I have 3 on Evilbay at the moment, ending tomorrow night. Cant see them going over $350.
Gefsco is Reynolds 753 tubing, Peter Bundy is Columbus SL, and Vetta is Columbus Gara.
First 2 are very rare top quality frames. Links on the Ebay thread in Retro biking.

If you could find an Apollo IV frame it'd be a great match. Classic high quality 80s bike.
