Hi,
Looking for a commuter bike for a tight budget (sub $400 ideally). Have come up with these 2 options - how do they compare? Is the Kona brand name an important factor? Mainly looking for reliability really.. something I can use to kick around town in summer.

Cool, thanks. So you'd suggest something from Reid/Cell over that Samson bike I posted? What's the issue with the Samson specifically?
Re: second hand - where's the best place to look? Is there a brand I should keep an eye out for, or any deals you've noticed around?

Samson is a three speed, fine if where you live is relatively flat otherwise you might find it a bit restrictive. Also it has some unbranded rims which could be rubbish or solid enough. Other than that there's not a lot of difference.

Yeah I think three speed should be fine - I'm in a fairly flat area. What's the downside of rubbish rims, if they are rubbish?

Only that your wheels will potentially go out of true quickly. Given they are 36 hole drillings they should be fairly solid.
