New bike advice

Just a bit of advice
I'm looking for a new bike
I currently ride 50-100km once to twice a week usually with mates

I plan to continue this and maybe do a triathlon or two over the summer (short course 750/20/5)

... But mainly cycling

I currently have a Giant Defy which is fine, but a little too relaxed to keep me going
I love the Di2 that it has

I'd appreciate some advice about what bikes to have a look at

Bought rather than build (no skills here)
Colour - blue,orange and light blue (just kidding, although that would be nice) - no colour preference

With a budget around 10K, cue multiple people telling you Ti is the way to go... followed by I like "insert brand" carbon bike... followed by "i'd never spend that kind of money on a bike"... followed by you saying, "I saw a 'insert brand' I like"... concluding in you buying whatever you wanted in the first place.

most bike manufacturers make a high end bike that will suit your needs.
its a personal choice for most. so choose what you like I'd say but also one that has a geometry that will suit your style of riding and body too.
I chose to ride Cervelo and believe that they suit me and are not too aggressive in geometry. I also like them
that's not to say a Pinarello or a Specialized and BMC are no good either. they all make great bike!

Custom Ti = titanium?

Last time I checked the periodic table, titanium isn't yet carbon.

No - not everything is carbon.
Leaving aside the question of frame material, the key is to get a bike that has a geometry that will suit your style of riding and that fits as ni78ck has said.
Some people are lucky enough that an off the shelf bike fits them but some need a geometry slightly different to what is commonly available - hence a custom build.
If you are spending that amount of money, you should get something that you look forward to riding!

Every low end bike is alu, doesn't make it better.

If this is one of your 'once in a lifetime' purchases then go for a custom titanium. If you're high roller and will do this once a year, then buy whatever you want, you will get there in the end after the rest of us picks up you unused bikes on the second hand market.

I don't how there are so many people with $10k to blow on a bike but have zero reason why they want a $10k bike. I would have thought at that price you'd at least settle on material and custom job.

Looks like you do a bit of road and tri so my advice is split the dosh and go $5k each between a new roadie and tri bike. Both will get you carbon with Di2.

Calvin people spend $10k+ on bikes for many reasons. It's not up to us to question on this thread but to guide someone to make the most informed choice on which bike to buy......
