11sp chain on 10sp grouppo

Google says yes, because the inside diameter of the chain is the same, but it doesn't sit right with the German in me.
Only reason I ask is I picked up a brand new Dura Ace chain cheap, then realised it was 11sp, and I run 10sp on the bike.
Just don't want to damage my cogs or sprockets.
Should be ok though, right,
Lots of info on web says its fine... But if its fine, why do shimano not recommend it?

because it wasnt designed for use on a 10spd system.
just put a 10spd chain on there & sleep easy

Then Shimano came along and invented indexed shifting and Campagnolo copied it.

Campag snobbery has always annoyed me, I've always seen it as coming from a fairly bigoted mind set and have probably refused to use it for that reason as much as the increased cost. In any case Shimano has always worked flawlessly for me.

It will work, it's ever so slightly slower on upshifts do to the extra clearance on the outside plates, other than that its fine.

I was using one on my shimergo setup.
