Bike Cover

Postby maninlycra » Tue Jan 13, 2015 9:15 am

All,

Does anyone know of a light portable bike cover that I use at my work where I park my bike.
I need to be able to roll it in my backpack and just use it to protect my bike .

For what it is, once I saw the cost of a dedicated bike cover, I now use a light outside seat cover/tarp which I bought from Bunnings for about $10. Job done. It covers the bike overnight outside the house. I don't bother but you could easily add tie straps if you desired.

Mine cost about $30. I don't remember where I got it from but c r c has them at about $31 and 99 Bikes at $55 for their version.

If you shop around you may find one cheaper. :)

The one I have zips up into a nice little 10cm x 10cm x 1cm bag.

I use a Bike Parka, which I think is worth a look.

Can be a bit difficult to fit on long bikes or those with wide bars, and is basically useless if you have a non-standard shape (eg basket on the front and child seat on the back) but will do for most bikes.

I think it was about $50 inc shipping when I bought from one of the UK stores. Has protected my wife's bike for over a year in direct sun and rain without use - aside from pumping the tyres there was nothing I really needed to do get it going again (although I had it checked out by the lbs just to make sure).

I still use it on that bike, now that's it's become the family bike. Taking off and putting on is not swift but not a pain either.
