You will need to pop a dynohub wheel in place of whatever you are using, but the combo leaves you with great lighting on the road and no batteries to worry about.

I think the best thing you can do is mount them as low as possible e.g like just above the fork crown. Not entirely sure how your going to do this on a road bike.

Nonsense. My BMW has about 7000 lumens and isn't at all dazzling. It's all about optics design as the lights Nhitrac, il pad and I have recommended. (I would usually say Philips Saferide to everyone but it won't suit the OP requirement for size...)eeksll wrote:a bright enough light that is small (not bulky) will be dazzling. Ayups are dazzling.

Bulky?Tank1252 wrote:Thanks for those, but they both look a little too bulky for what i'm after, much along the lines of the Light & Motion Urban 300 that I already have.
Nooooo

The SON Edelux II is not cheap at 139 Euro, but excellent build quality.Tank1252 wrote:Nice selection of lights there, keep them coming. Don't want to spend a fortune.
Not sure what sort of wheels you are running but one of the numerous hub dynamo options at xxcycle is this one for $US94.23.

Cheap well built waterproof and works of any USB battery of your choosing. I used to use Ayups but have now switched over to using these I even use them now for touring plus I use one for a tail light by buying the red defuser. Real solid light....Tank1252 wrote:I'm looking for a front light suitable for group rides. I'd like something that is not too dazzling when in a bunch, but bright enough to light the way when it's my turn on the front. Preferably something I don't have to keep fiddling with. A stable mount & good battery life are also important. My current front lights are either not powerful enough (Moon Mask) or too bright & bulky (Light & Motion Urban 300). Any recommendations?

Purchase this defuser and it turns the light spot into a softer rectangular beam that won't annoy anyone.

This is where I got my defusers

Or for more oomph go for the Supernva E3 Triple 2
Both run off that dynohub of course
