Difference between Ticino & Loft

Postby agultar » Wed Mar 25, 2015 5:55 pm

Hi,

I've been considering purchasing an Electra Ticino 7D, but then noticed that the Electra Loft 7D is substantially cheaper and appears to have a better drivetrain. Can someone please help me figure out why the Ticino sells for so much more? Most of the components seem similar (although I'm sure I'm missing something).

Here are the bikes in question:

The Ticino 7D ($899) specs are:

6061-T6 ALUMINUM FRAMESET / INVESTMENT-CAST CROWN, TAPERED-LEG, STEEL FORK / SHIMANO 7-SPEED ALTUS DRIVETRAIN / SHIMANO TX50 THUMB SHIFTER PLUS / FORGED ALLOY CRANKSET W/42T CHAINRING/DUAL GUARDS / SHIMANO CANTILEVER BRAKES / 32H LOW FLANGE ALLOY HUBSET / DOUBLE-WALL ALLOY RIMS / 700 x 35c TIRES / TICINO DUAL-DENSITY SADDLE / HAMMERED ALLOY FENDERS

And the Loft 7D ($699) specs are:

LIGHTWEIGHT 6061-T6 ALUMINUM FRAME / SHIMANO ACERA 7-SPEED W/MEGARANGE GEARING / SHIMANO REVO TWIST SHIFTER / PAINTED FENDERS / ALLOY CRANKSET W 44T ALLOY / CHAINRING AND GUARD / SEALED CARTRIDGE BOTTOM BRACKET / ALLOY DUAL PIVOT CALIPER BRAKES / DOUBLE WALL ALLOY RIMS / 700 x 38c TIRES

Thanks!

Tincino has what I'd consider to be a superior fork, more expensive brakes and my preference for the shifter and full dress fenders. Just a bunch of stuff that is a little bit more expensive and then probably an extra $50 in it for the dealer too.
