I'm contemplating pulling the trigger on one of these bikes in the near future. Seems to be on par with what I'm after as I consolidate my stable. I've owned a Merida before and I found it to be a very well made and effective ride, so no issue with build quality and I don't have a stigma about the brand.
Does anyone out there own one of these bad boys? I'm more or less interested in the CF3 version of the frame (Base model) as it sits in my price range.
Mostly, I want to know: why is the bike so heavy? I'm not dying to have a 6.8kg bike but the Dura-Ace version is listed at 7.9kg without pedals, which is somewhat portly for a carbon bike on a premium groupset. The frameset is written as being around 1180g to 1250g, which is par for the course on standard carbon weaves, but after all the maths I do on it based on the sum of its components, I cant find where the missing 500-600g of weight is living?
