Hi, I'm new to cycling. I first bought 50$ half broken MTB to see how much I like cycling.
Recently I decided that I love cycling and upgraded to Reid City 1 hybrid but unfortunately it was stolen being less than 4 days in the garage of the apartment.
So now I've narrowed down my search to 3 used bikes. All of them are from local classified site. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post links, so I don't put them for now.
1. Trek 7.2 fx
250$. Size is fitting well: 20" (my range is 18" - 22" based on charts I found on web). According to seller, the bike just had the back rim and cassette replaced, new tyres have done about 50 Kms. Just been serviced
2. Giant rincon hybrid
240$ Size is L (seller: it fits to someone 172-182 cm, I'm 184). According to seller, The bike has brand new Shimano gears with trigger shifts (much better than twist gears). Excellent condition. Always kept in the garage. No faults with the bike, no rust, never been crashed or dropped, ready to ride, nothing more to spend
3. Reid City (1 or 2 not sure).
150$. Size is M (not the perfect size for me I guess). According to seller, it has recently been fully inspected. Year 2013.
Among 3, Reid city will be available for me only from 15th of July. Also, I haven't yet fully decided if want front suspension or not. Choices 2 and 3 have suspension, but not 1 (Trek).
Any suggestions are much apprecieted

Sorry to hear your bike got stolen.
Personally I don't like the front suspension when road cycling. I find that it adds weight to the bike and slows me down, especially when going uphill.

Thanks for your opinion.
It was my own fault I didn't lock it assuming it's safe in the garage of a "secure" building
I also think I don't really need front suspension because:
A) I'll mostly ride on road (sometimes pavement)
B) I don't want to have the trouble to have it repaired
Also, I found one interesting article about best hybrid bike which was the reason I am targeting Trek 7.2 fx. Here it is: http://thesweethome.com/reviews/best-hy ... uter-bike/

Can't go wrong for only $250 for the Trek 7.2 (well you can - but that's the best of a sorry lot you have listed there). Personally I'd aim for a Trek 7.4fx or a 7.5 but gee for $250 you can afford to take that plunge and see how you go.... Good Luck.

The FX is a good bike. Cheaper running gear on the low end models but you can change that as it wears out. I had a 7.5 as my main bike for 3 years. I rode it so much I broke the frame....twice! I sold the last warranty replacement with 4000km on it for $400, so $250 is about right for the 7.2rodneycc wrote:Can't go wrong for only $250 for the Trek 7.2 (well you can - but that's the best of a sorry lot you have listed there). Thanks everyone for advices. I made a choice and bought trek 7.2. The seller was an awesome bike enthusiast with 4+ bikes in his garage. I'm happy with the bike
