The other question of course is how much will the Powertap C1 be?

It's listed as $699 USD, with the P1 being $1199 USD and $1600 AUD, perhaps about $1100 AUD might be the go?

Although I'd need to replace my crank from Ultegra 6800 to use it :( Might be a deal breaker there.

Quick report, 1st week, 400km, 1st race.

Data looks good, even though I have not compared it to the G3 data I collected from the same rides.

Two out of the six rides, my Garmin did report me putting out 64,000 watts for a second or two. Easily fixed in Golden Cheetah and it looks like Strava just ignore it.

Did check my pedals and saw this scrape

Image

It is underneath the right pedal, so unlikely from today's race, all left turns. On way home I had fun with some brick paved roundabouts, but I don't think I lay it over a 30 degrees while pedalling. Which is what is needed to touch the pedal down.

Much cleaner design compared to the pods on the Vectors, but that is my main concern with this pedal. Though not only higher risk of pedal strike but how robust is the electronics to hits?

Read a lot of comments about this random spike issue. Are you still getting it? Would be a bit annoying as it could affect the NP and average power etc.

Didn't realize that the C1 crank rings would cost around €200 per year on top of buy cost... maybe not for me :) .

Not sure what you mean.

I see the C1 has gone on pre-order sale for US$700.
110bcd only though

They are quoting US$199 to replace the chain rings... Usually go through a set once a year to 18 months... But then it would be a 100 or so to replace normal rings too... So not so bad apart from the downtime.
Not much difference to pedals though I suppose ... Would chew through a pair pedals bodies in a similar time.

You eat pedal bodies in 12 months?! I didn't even know my cleats were worn out after 15000kms

Someone isn't replacing chains often enough :)

But still, yeah this was a big turn-off for me with the Powertap C1 - pretty much stuck with propriety chainrings which is far worse than propriety cleats that aren't even.

hmmm stages dropped to $529 USD so around $750 AUD. Nearly 1k less than powertap. Would be hard to justify the extra for me for dual sided/ more portable. Single side should be OK, and I don't think i'll be swapping power meter between bikes every anyway.

If you are after cleats for your Powertap P1 pedals, Torpedo7 has Wellgo RC7 cleats (almost exactly the same as the P1 cleats, both have RC7 marked on, the P1 just don't have the Wellgo name on the grey rubber, I have a pair of each) on special for $9.99 https://www.torpedo7.com.au/products/WE ... deg-cleats

Better off buying in bulk!

FE Sports have the new model of the stages still at the same prices though.

There really isn't much point comparing stages to dual sided P1 pedals... We don't have long term reports from Powertap yet but I have heard of 2 people on their 4th Stages. That's just not good enough - power is expensive and saving 200-300 bucks for an unreliable power meter is a false economy. If it does not matter how accurate it is, just get a PowerCal. 50 bucks more than a HRM and will be enough for good HrTSS. Or get an SRM.

Do you mean $1550?

I'm interested to hear from those who have them whether they are experiencing power spikes. There's significant discussion of this on the DCRain maker blog comments section. Many people experiencing issues. There's meant to be a firmware fix. This is probably the only thing holding me back at this stage. I've been burned buying gen1 products before and I'd like to see all the kinks definitively sorted before I lay 1.6k down on them.

How did you score P1 from Pushys for 1450???!!!!!

I am also eager to get this but want to make sure that it has no issues with Garmin units and power spikes. I'm a total newbie to power meter scene but would like to give it a try to improve on my cycling.....

I've heard the firmware update is now out that is supposed to fix the spikes. Not sure if it works.

Yeah $1450 is a great price if it wasn't a typo!

Clear customs? I thought pushys was a local seller. There is no extra import tax on that is there?
