They are $1499 at Bikebug for the dual sided, no crank included version.

If your considering a Pioneer then why not consider a C1 crankset?... I haven't done any research on them but they seem very well priced or am I missing something?

Hmm good point, I'm mainly looking for a PM with left right reading for injury recovery. Don't think C1 offer that capability from my quick 1m google research.

Hardly a significant saving for the pioneer then

Does anyone know if the weight measured by DC rainmaker includes the battery in the figure given?

I don't know 100% but I would be fairly certain it would include it, yes.

He's usually pretty responsive on twitter or in the comments section so you could ask him, or just ask the manufacturer or a distributor. Surely the weight of a battery isn't that significant though?

bugs - if you are worried about the weight of a battery, you could consume 1 less carrot a day

A google comes up with
Alkaline AAA batteries weigh around 11.5 grams each, while lithium AAA Batteries weigh about 7.6 g. Rechargeable nickel–metal hydride (NiMH) AAA Batteries typically weigh 14–15 g.

I'm going to have to add these to my Wishlist. I like the simplicity, just hope the cleats are readily available as I have more than a few pairs of shoes. I'd prefer to keep the same cleat system on every bike so I can use any shoe on any bike, but I love that I can move the power meter between bikes so easily.

The cleats are not readily available at the moment, but Powertap will start to offer these separately eventually.
Otherwise Xpedo cleats (which are identical) can be sourced from bike24.com and they're cheap. Perhaps a group buy to offset the shipping cost.

Anyone know if you definitely have to pay GST etc? And what the exact price would be given their listed on wiggle for $1376.7?

Also the C1 might be a good option if you don't need to transfer between bikes....anyone know when these are available?

^ they are saying late September I think for the C1?

You'll need a compatible crank set though.

Looks like you can get them straight from Xpedo too:

Ordered a pair through my LBS, small premium over BikeBug, but hey they are my LBS.

Expected to take a few weeks, wrong, ordered Monday, arrived Thursday to LBS in WA.

Didn't fit then till Sunday (raced Saturday).

Used the supplied cleats (I wondered why must use supplied cleats until reading DC Rainmaker, worn cleats can unclip under load)

I have yet to compared my ride data between P1 and G3, but looked good on the ride.

Freaky thing, pedal balance 55/45% when cruising became 47/53% while taking a KOM.

Nice one.

Did you torque them up with a torque wrench or just hand tighten them up with an 8mm allen?
What pedals were you using before and did you notice any change in stack height?
Garmin picked it up immediately?

Yes I've read the review and seen the videos.

Just wondering what a fellow trusted sandgroper has done to get his results :)

Hand tighten with 8mm allen, my torque wrench only goes to 15nm, it was in the 15-20nm range

Look Keo Ti and Look Keo Carbon (both pre blade models), no difference

Entered my ANT ID manually, still had the G3 attached to bike

Garmin picked up left pedal immediately, couple of error messages "missing right pedal", but switched to the balance screen and there was the data.

Excellent, keep us informed of how they go. Also interested to hear if you bottom out on them at all

I love my Powertap G3 built into a Bracciano A42 http://www.this link is broken.au/pro-lite-bracc ... -wheelset/ because its so easy to switch between bikes. Easy to swap freehub means I can run race cassette and commute cassette and it takes seconds to switch.

Having said that, the P1s would be great on the single speed.

About to put some garmin vectors on my single speed.. Will be interesting... May have to do a Cootha on it and then switch them to the road bike and compare the numbers

And another to add to the growing list of pedal based power meters. This one may be cheaper again (depending on exchange rate and if those prices quoted include euro gst ??)
and it looks pretty accurate comparison to G3 powertap in the second link)

guessing the full report will be out shortly there's some comparison data in this test of yet another power meter (ibike power pod)
