^^ Just saying from my perspective on the two bikes (2012 Defy Composite 1 and 2013 TCR Adv SL) both stiff, can't notice much diff in steering or handling, both climb great, both are fast on the flat. The most difference in the riding I found was the bars were lower so I had to raise them. So weekend warrior real world riding not a lot of difference. I love both but I'm continually finding the Defy gets a bum wrap in the forums in favour of the TCR. Just saying.

I was actually going to just say that you are right and leave it at that, rather than trying to persuade you otherwise, but I'll explain a bit.singlespeedscott wrote:In what way? Unless your saddle height is completely wrong. I really can't see it making a huge diff. When climbing your either out of the saddle or forward trying to spin hands on the tops of the bars
In many small ways that together make a big difference, or comfort on the bike, or in ways that are imperceptable until you get some kind of muscle overuse injury - IE, everything feels fine then bang, you're injured.
Aside from that, the way it was explained to me in my case is that the fit was causing certain muscles to be used a lot, and others not doing a whole lot at all. And in the few weeks after the bike fit was done, I did notice that. I noticed that the particular muscles that used to end up massively sore didn't get so sore anymore, I also noticed I was quicker going up hills, and also a bit faster on the flat. The fit might have been called more extreme, but, it was also a lot more comfortable. And I haven't dared to change it since.
The guy who did my fit didn't just see me once off and suggest the changes, we'd known each other for a long time and he'd watched how I was riding, the way I was pedaling, etc - and he asked me various things and pointed out various things that I might be having problems with - before I said anything. Very perceptive.
