Looking for a Hybrid in 600-800$ price range

Postby Ritchma » Thu Aug 27, 2015 11:00 pm

Hello guys.

I'm new to Australia so I don't know a lot of shops around and I was always into Bmx so have no knowledge about bigger bikes.
The thing is that I have moved and I have good and secure garage so I decided it would be better if I ride to work than drive everyday.
Don't want a cheap bike. I'm pretty sure bigger bikes are the same as Bmx in this matter. I know 600-800$ is not a massive budget but I think it should get me a decent hybrid.
My biggest problem is that I don't know what exactly I want. Found three bikes but have no idea if they are any good. Any help will be much appreciated

I like the Polygon out of that lot. The Heist and Helios are good value for money. Think there is a couple of other threads on this if you want to do a seach.

Ok I was going to buy the first one but unfortunately it's sold.
As I spent some time looking I have better idea what I want.
I want something with IGH ideally in Sydney so I can try it and my budget is now around $1000.

What kind of riding will you be doing? If commuting on road/paths I reckon a flat-bar road bike is a better proposition than a hybrid. Many hybrid's are a bit too agricultural and heavy IMO.
Polygon have some good value bikes. Merida Speeders may be worth a look. These Cell's look like good value,+ a lot less $.

After a lot of research, if you can stretch the budget a bit, I would suggest Giant Cross City 0 2015
