Bicycle stand

Postby johnfordau » Sat Nov 14, 2015 10:39 pm

Hi. After serval years I have decided to buy another bike. This is all well and good but what I cannot find is a stand that is simple and supports the bike allowing the rear wheel to turn freely. I had one with my last bike which I sold some four years ago .. stupid, stupid .. I have tried to find such a stand on the internet and one seems to be in the US. But surely someone in Australia must make these simple pieces of equipment.

Greetings.

I have bought a repair stand that clamps on the seat-tube or frame of the bike. I wish I had got a stand like the one linked below as I don't like the clamp on aluminium (frame tubes) or on carbon fibre (seat-post) just my 2 cents.
Only thing about the stand below is head-set/F.wheel/F.brake work on the front wheel is restricted as the wheel's off and the fork is secured to the stand.
Different designs have advantages/dis-advantages over others.
There is a $50 frame mount stand also available from the retailer linked below.

Regards, C.

G'day johnford, welcome outside. :)
You mean a kick stand?

I've seen varieties around but can't for the life of me recall the name.

Do you mean double leg stand? It`s called Pletscher double leg centrestand. Google to find the cheapest one.

There are a whole bunch of variations. If you let us know which sort you are after, we can narrow down your options

The Pletscher Bunged Knee referred is a center mount kickstand which looks like

There are rear mount kickstands, eg Flying Pigeon type

Minoura folding stand

There are bike shop type stands, eg

There are then serious stands used for indoor trainers eg

Thank you all for your responses.

But none fit the bill. The one I am looking for works the same as the one featuring the Serotta bike. The stand is relatively simply and needs not clamps or nuts and bolts but keeps the bike upright while allowing rotation of the back wheel and changing gears.

Keep at it though .. it will turn up somewhere.

Do you mean bike repair stand? If so, google it. It can be used to check the gearings while rotating the rear wheel for adjustments and fine tuning.
