Had an unfortunate accident where my ceiling fell in.......

One of the casualties was the Garmin 810, some tears were shed....
It "turns on" but the screen is smashed where a piece of ceiling hit it.

Options:
Get it fixed (is it worth it)
Buy a new 810
Buy another garmin different model
buy a different brand mio 505

Now i already have all the accessories as i bought the full bundle originally, including maps, cadence, heart monitor and speed sensor (two sets)
So it intially made sense to replace with the same garmin, but i did have problems with the bluetooth connection which did limit its functionality.

So throwing it out there, for comments:
Will the accessories pair with a mio 505?
Just buy the same Garmin?
Buy a different Garmin, like 1000, or still to buggy?

1000 sounds like a good option for you.

Give Garmin a call- they do have a replacement program (they won't directly fix yours). Not sure on the cost for an 810 but my 500 was just under $100.
My 500 had the same problem (dropped it down a set of stairs and smashed the screen).
Once you ahve a cost off Garmin then you can be better informed re the decisions.

I've had a 505 for ~ 2 months now and have found the following:

Pro:
- Much cheaper than the 810 (I got it when they were on sale at Harvey Norman)
- Paired with my Garmin HRM and cadence sensor
- WiFi sync is awesome. Get home, hit sync and my ride is synced with my various online training systems
- Screen is easily readable
- Will pair with your Android or iOs phone over blutetooth. (Pretty big hit to battery life for that though)

Cons:
- I've had issues with the mapping where if i start a 'track' away from the actual start it'll direct me to the start but then refuse to actually direct me on the track itself
- Lacking in advanced training features - cant do auto lap etc
- Doesnt fit all garmin mounts (some arent super secure)
