Hello to all, I am new to the forum!
Somewhat newish to the cycling world having been cycling on and off for the last few years. Been pretty hesitant to get back on the road since having a big crash a few years back which has resulted in a long term neck injury however I am keen to get back into it but be a little more selective of where I ride.
At the moment I am looking at a 2016 Giant TCR Advanced SL2 Limted Edition - Runs an ISP frame and mechanical ultegra but comes in a fantastic bright lime colour which on it's own has sold me.. Only real downside and the point of this topic is whether you ladies and gentleman think it's worth the price. The RRP is $4499 and the absolute best the bike store will allow is there special listed price of $3899.00. To me it isn't a substantial saving especially since I have seen Giant's go for almost 50% off when on run out, but unfortunately these limited editions have more or less sold out in most places and I doubt that the one I am looking at will remain in stock long enough to go on further sale..
Overall the bike is far too good for my intention (nice sunny morning weekend ride) to warranty the price but then again I am surely not the only one to splurge out of such expensive push bikes.
Soo... Listen to my heart and buy it at $4k or use my head and purchase a different bike with better value for money.. That's the question
To SL2 or not to..

Giants even at a regular price are good value and i think aesthetics are always important even better of its a bit unique.
At the end of the day only you can decide... But I am guessing you may already have and are looking for positive affirmation.
Enjoy

I agree with your comment on good value and the importance of aesthetics.marckietan wrote:Giants even at a regular price are good value and i think aesthetics are always important even better of its a bit unique.

Indeed you are correct in that it's ultimately up to me but I appreciate the opinions of others as no one close to me understand cycling and therefore any amount over $200 seems absurd to them..
At this stage I haven't made a decision..

$3800 for a bike that comes with a great Groupset, and Carbon wheels.Sap it up, its a good deal.
Giant's always offer great value.

Yep Just do it... Great looking bike and the SL2 is the best value of all of them. Sure it will probably go down a few hundred but you will always be wondering if this model would of been better (and the question of course to that is - yes it is). And like you said you may not find that many that colour around for sale after the limited run (or not when you want to buy it).

Just curious whether your "long term neck injury" has affected your flexibility because the TCR is race based geometry with a short head tube and long top tube.

I'm currently (impatiently) waiting on mine to arrive. It'll be losing the components and receiving Di2 however.
The only difference between the SL0 and SL2 is the groupset and finishing kit - the frame is the same high end TCR frame across the SL0/1/2 models. It's probably a safe bet to say you'll not find many other manufacturers top end frame for that kind of money let alone in a complete bike with a solid level groupset and a pretty bang on pair of wheels.
As Nike say.... Just do it!
