Campag Zonda 2 Way or Shimano WH-RS81 C24 Carbon
Postby brokenbus » Fri Nov 27, 2015 7:03 pm
Looking at getting some new wheels for my roadbike. These are both about the same price at the moment. The campags are about 1570gram and the C24s 1502g. I am about 95kg. Any recommendations?

That's probably the closest and hardest decision on the market (the other being da c24 v shamal/fulcrum r0). Both great wheelsets. I've got both but think the Zondas are slightly more robust and the RS81 slightly lighter and quicker (but not much). At 95kg I'd maybe go the Zondas, they should be cheaper as well. But really not much in it with a lot depending on the type of riding you are doing. Smooth roads and I'd maybe lean to the rs81s but general purpose then the Zondas on the rougher roads.
Edit: btw I'd forget the two way unless you really want to try out tubeless. You are paying extra for nothing there otherwise.
Btw Shamals get my vote on the other poll

Thanks for the reply. Roads are rough around here and I have been very happy with the sciroccos on my old bike so a pair of zondas are on their way. Have gone for the two way fit as I want to try tubeless.

Owned the Zonda. Great wheel, robust, 0 issues. Only problem? Can't buy the wheels separate incase you're in a crash etc..

That's the main reason I switched to RS81s. Managed to get a spare front wheel in a few weeks but had no luck when my derailleur mangled the rear a year later.Shpox wrote:Owned the Zonda. Great wheel, robust, 0 issues. Only problem? Can't buy the wheels separate incase you're in a crash etc..

You always find a secondhand Zonda singles here and there, also Shamal if you don't mind mixing and matching. I've also bought a couple of Shamal front wheels off Ribble ($328 ex display and $340 new) and pair those up with various wheels including a Zonda rear. So there are lots of options out there if you look around.
