Yeh I went on an 80 km ride last week and destroyed my ass. I also quickly ordered some dhb blok bib shorts but they didn't arrive in time for this weekends ride - so I ended up stuffing my wife's riding shorts down the ass of my normal pants to ride with :P

Looking forward to some real shorts of my own!

I'm 184 cm, 82 kg and ended up ordering a L - I hope it's not too large

I've found the dhb ASV bibs from Wiggle to be pretty good.

While my first two sets were received free of charge for the review, I've since bought extra pairs so that I'm not washing them every day. They come in a range of colours.

Here is what I thought of them:

Depends on the size of your thighs

I am 183cm, 82kg +/- 2kg over past few years

1st pair I bought was L, little loose round my legs, good shorts, so I bought a few pairs of M, after a couple of years riding, M that survived the 30,000km of riding are tight round the legs, the L are now perfect fit.

So if the are too loose now, ride more and you will grow into them

Sorry, missed this until now...

Wasn't long as I recall - a couple of weeks perhaps? Hopefully you have 'em by now.

It's worth following the instructions to soak in water overnight prior to first use - the chamois was pretty stiff before that!

Mine got stuck at customs for a week for some reason but yeah I have them now.

You rode them wet for their first use?

Elsewhere I have sung my praises re Assos. They still stand for the old S5's milles. The new series t centro s7's are crapola as far as lasting goes. The mesh upper has now got at least 3 holes in them, after maybe 18 months. At $450.00 or so, not good.

This is of course attributable to my "stout" body shape probably, but the 5's never had an issue.

Be careful ordering Castelli, their sizing is way out. I normally take XL so I went XXL and they are still, on the small size!

My ass still hurts on the DHB bubs after 5 hours of riding - might check out "the bibs" but they're fairly exxy. Any lower cost alternatives for long rides?

Guess my upper limit is "The Bibs". Wondering if the "fake" team bibs on Alibaba/eBay with the gel padding are any good? They're about 30 bucks.

My DHB's were ~$100 AUD.

'The Bibs' are $160 USD and that's around $215AUD; this gives plenty of choice.

there are a couple of Castelli bib knicks in that price range, eg evoluzione and free aero.
the former is their base model (i think). nonetheless i find them to be super comfy.

I've got some Castelli Velocissio bibs, and after about 600km they are getting a bit saggy, not as comfortable as they were that is for sure. Doesn't appear to be due to weight loss either.
