I'm window shopping for a future disc roadie purchase and am looking at a few different brands of bike.
There's a nice Wilier that's caught my eye that appears to be in the right price range, but it uses a Shimano Ultegra crank set. I would like to keep my Rotor 3D+ cranks, as I have a power meter fitted to them, which would be expensive to swap.
Rotor make a few different bottom brackets that offer a bit of flexibility regarding which frames you can use. For example, I'm using their BSA30 BB which allows me to use their BB30 cranks in an English BB. However, when it comes to press-fit bottom brackets I'm a bit confused.
The Wilier spec says "Shimano Press Fit" which is not terribly informative. Rotor offers a BB86/92 to 30mm BB kit.
Would this do the job?
Thanks so much for your help

Hmmm. "Shimano Press-Fit" is what's commonly referred to as BB86, so it seems that Rotor bottom bracket should work, but it'd be nice if they had a bit more info about it on their website...
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

Here's a link https://rotorbike.com/media/files/2012/ ... 521655.pdf
btw - Rotor 3D+ cranks are not BB30 standard as the axle is longer. A "proper" BB30 crank won't fit in a standard BSA frame as the axle is too short the other way works fine with the correct bottom bracket or spacers to fill out the gap.
cheers

Mightn't work.
The rotor BB30 conversion to english is specific to rotor cranks - I presume the external bearings you have are unusually thin, compared to say shimano external bearings plonked on an English BB ?
BB30 spindles are short, which is why so many other 46mm OD, 30mm ID press fit BB standards exist, so I don't think BB30 spindles work in what I'd expect to be a BB386evo frame. BB386 spindles work in lots of frames because they are longer.

I suspect you didn't read the OP correctly - he already has a Rotor 3D+ crank currently fitted through a BSA30 bottom bracket; an almost-standard external-bearing bottom bracket in an English-thread frame, except the bearings are oversize to fit the 30mm spindle; the threaded parts of the cups don't need to be exceptionally thin to fit the spindle through, all the oversized bits are outboard. This is NOT a standard BB30 crankset with short spindle, it's a BB30-Wide, compatible with 86mm shells, generally BB386 (86x46mm), but with the aforementioned special Rotor BB, with "regular" 41mm BB86 Press-Fits too.zero wrote:Mightn't work.
