Fulcrum racing zero nite wheelset
Postby northvegas_12 » Mon May 23, 2016 7:30 pm
No doubt been covered before but just after a quick answer!
Am looking into buying a set... noticeable upgrade from stock fulcrum cex 7 wheels that came with my bike?
Also what does the hub sounds like on the wheelset, loud or quiet?

I should know, I put Enves on the Cervelo cause they looked good. Like I'm gonna get any aero improv outta them
We're not all racing cyclists DD. Some of us just like our bikes to look good (in our eyes).....

Just after a decent wheel set from the stock ones I have, plus also don't mind a nice click sound!

200-300g difference, a bit stiffer. But way better wheels out there for the money - depending on what he wants them for though.

What better wheels are there out there for this price range? Have found this wheelset for around the $1200 price mark, but am definitely open to input about better wheels etc. Probably better off spending the money on a power meter...DG1984 wrote:Derny Driver wrote:And the difference between 7s, 5s, 3s 1s and zeros is .... ??northvegas_12 wrote:Hi All,

A power meter might be helpful if you were training for something specific and needed the data.

I will have a look at those wheels, have considered the campy shamals, but most places have been sold out of the shimano freehub body.DG1984 wrote:Campy Eurus are probably better bang for buck ($682 on c r c down from $1000 at the moment). It really depends on the reason for needing new wheels though - if it's for the weight saving, eat less - it's cheaper.

If clicking is your goal, then see if you can find an old XTREME 1990 vintage trispoke. When I hit the bike path on my singlespeed, the bell becomes redundant. A quick freewheel and the Path walkers in a hundred metres radius all turn around. This thing is LOUD. Ridiculously loud. Embarrassingly loud. And (fat and old) its also BLACK !northvegas_12 wrote:

Its like putting a hot dog muffler on your Hyundai Excel. Instant head turning action

If the OP wants blingy wheels, no need to spend a fortune. Exhibit A. Front wheel cost me $70 and the rear was given to me for free.
Look great and make loud clicks

That being so then I would consider the hubs to be fairly quiet and run very very smoothly.
If you want to save some money then you can go with the Racing Zero (without the dark coating) - but do agree the black rims make the bike aesthetics look very cool.
