Can someone steer me to some contemporary testing data to compare Crr of tubular TT tyres?
I am after a low crr tyre for my rear disk...preferably a 23mm.
Currently running a Corsa cx 21-28. But surely there is better.
Thks

My son uses Corsa CX on his disc. Im my opinion you need a sturdy tyre on a disc wheel. CX is perfect.
I run Continental Competitions on his other race wheels. Heavy and reliable. Bombproof actually.
There is a lot to consider when choosing a tubular tyre and in my opinion, reliability is number 1 factor and crr rates about a poofteenth behind last. Im sure you already know the stats about helmets, front wheels, bootie covers, body position and all that. Even a disc wheel is quite low on the time saving data.
My son has never lost a TT by a thousandth of a second, he seems to win more than his fair share on the CX so Ive never seen the need to buy a different tyre.
Im not answering your question I know, but seriously, do you really think it matters?
I honestly dont.

I'll digress again linds while we are waiting for Alex to come along with the data, I was just thinking about some of the Professional prologues and short TTs where fractions of a second do count ...you would think the riders would be right into the science, but from what I have seen, most Pros couldnt tell you what sort of tyres are on their bikes or how many psi are in the tyres. They leave minor $hit like that to the team mechanics. They just ride whatever bike the sponsor provides and wear the sponsors helmet whether they like it or not. The rider's job is to ride the bike and make all the correct judgement calls during the race, and to monitor their effort. They are really not concerned with a lot of the things that average punters like us concern ourselves with.

challenge do a silk tyre,
expensive (haven't tried) and maybe not that puncture proof but supposedly the ultimate.
I personally like veloflex masters, arenberg and Roubaix as my go to tyre.

I bought some Zipp 404s with Challenges on them. Fair dinkum I dont know any roads that we race on where I would be game to use them. I took them off and gave them away. Beautiful light tyre though.softy wrote:challenge do a silk tyre,

Albury Wodonga chip seal... Vittoria Evo CX or whatever its current equivalent is. Rolls well without fearing riding anything other than hotmix.

As much as I have tried, I can't find comparisons for real tubs not high pressure tyres made to suit rims without tubes.
I read some good things about Dugasts' that are hand made but they will burn a hole inya pocket.

I don't suffer fools easily and so long as you have done your best, you should have no regrets.
