I'm wanting to start riding to help with my weight loss and have some fun on 2 wheels without a motor. I'm still 120kg but I've lost 70Kg since Jan 2015 so it's going well.
I was wanting to ride cycle paths and trails. My budget isn't huge under $600 would be preferable.
My concern is my current weight will still hinder me from getting a bike.
Thanks for any help in advanced.

Firstly congratulations on the weight loss, a very impressive effort. In terms of a bicycle, $600 isn't a large budget, bang for buck you'd be best off going second hand if you are confident in checking out bikes, or if you have a friend who can help. Given your weight is still a significant factor I'd be looking for either a mountain bike, or a steel framed tourer that have wheels with high spoke counts (<32 spoke). You should be able to find a good quality 26 inch mountain bike cheap as the latest fad in the MTB world is for larger wheel sizes. Failing that something like a Cell Stromlo would do the job

losing 70kg is very impressive.
plus one for a mountain bike or touring bike. They might be heavier, slower etc but built stronger. $600 is enough to get you into a decent, but basic new bike shop bike. Perhaps ask the shop to switch out the tyres to some more road friendly ones if you aren't taking it to the gravel.
Don't forget to allow for a helmet

Thanks guys, I'm going to have a look round some local bike shops this morning.
Hoping to be a lot less weight in a short time.

Mods, perhaps this and another at viewtopic.php?f=9&t=90840 are candidates for a merge.
edit: Oops. maybe not, in view of specificity of bike type here.
