And now I have the HB20 oversize lockring and the rear brake rotor fitted. Thanks slaw and Duck for the tips.

80 pages of dealer manual for the brake setup though?! Be careful of the olives?! That's definitely going to the shop for professional assembly.

It's not really that hard.

Have a read of the manual, look at the bits, have a play (without tightening), ask some questions, and then do it.

There are a couple of tools that may be useful, but not essential (like a proper hose cutter).

It's pretty easy really .....

Been there and done that, several times (different systems on different bikes)

Getting the barbed needle into the end of the hose can be the hardest bit.

Just make sure the end of the hose is properly located in the connector (Shimano's road hydro brake levers have a short permanently fitted hose with a connector at the end, rather than the normal hose going all the way from caliper to lever) before tightening the compression nut to crimp the olive on. You do need to get a bit brutal on the nut; there is a fair bit of resistance when tightening it, because it needs to compress the olive. Don't just tighten the nut until it feels firm; work through the resistance until it actually stops.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

Well the Crosslights were fine until a driver ran into the back of me yesterday and destroyed the rear.

Now I need a rear wheel. Can't get the Crosslight separately. Should I just get a Shimano RX31, one of the few available individually?

Is it not possible to lace a new rim on? Mavic usually aren'r bad with spares. Or is it too badly gone?

It's the rear from these factory wheels: http://www.kinesisbikes.co.uk/Catalogue ... lincher-V4

I have no idea what the hub is. It was only a $400-$450ish pair of wheels, do you think it would be cost effective?

I see both R 23 and R 32 listed, but both out of stock and both thru-axle. I need 135mm QR and it's not very clear from the descriptions whether you get the appropriate bits and pieces to convert it. Thanks though.

Nice. Wiggle out of stock unfortunately although bike24 has them. I can't really tell the difference between the R23, R24 and R32 from the DT Swiss web site, apart from money and a reduced weight limit on some.

Given that the driver destroyed the rear of my $440 Crosslight pair, I think I'm owed more than $150-$180 for a replacement (which is the typical price of an R24 or an RX31).

My unridden Pro Lite Revo21 Centerlock wheels look well made and they are pretty light at 1650 grams. Cell has them for $549. The decals are a bit much and it looks like a real hassle to remove them.

The diff from R24 to the R32 is rim depth only from what I can remember. The decals came off easily :D

I rode with the alloy shimano ones (RX31) on a Polygon bike, and whilst heaver than the DT, they were rock solid for the time I rode the bike.

I got the DT Swiss R23 Spline db. It came with all the axle adapters and even a couple of different lock rings. No skewer though but I had one left from the charred remains of my Crosslight. Hopefully my ribs will be up to riding it soon.
