Like others I'm interested in buying my first bike after not having one since being a teenager. I'm looking for something decent but not too pricey as my husband wants to buy one at the same time.
I've found two that fit my budget and may be decent:
http://www.this link is broken/Cell-Fitzroy-2-0-W
https://www.reidcycles.com.au/reid-4130-shimano.html - Someone mentioned this was older generation parts - not sure how you tell?
The tyre size worries me on the 4130 as it's only 23. I'm a pretty overweight person (5'4'' and 240lbs) and will be using it on roads and bike trails mostly for a hobby, so I really want something comfortable.
I'm really looking for something that will last me while I learn for the next year or two and then if I fall in love I can upgrade to a better bike so I'm also not sure if it's worth it to buy the say 4130 with mostly 105 over the slightly cheaper mostly Sora ones.
I'm also interested in any other suggestions for around $700 (I have a 10% discount for Reid) that would suit my needs.
Thanks guys

If you're after maximum comfort, a drop bar road bike on 23mm tyres probably isn't the way to go. Although it'd be a great bike to ride.
The two bikes are very different. The Cell will have you more upright and comfortable, the Reid will have you more angled forwards.
I'd go the Cell, it's got nice easy gearing for getting you up to fitness, and the 32mm tyres will be a good compromise between speed and comfort. Then if you get fit, lose some weight and get bitten by the cycling bug, you'll find yourself wanting a faster bike and then something like the Reid will fit the bill nicely. But jumping to a drop bar road bike straight away might put you off riding!
If possible, take each one for a test ride. Happy riding!

+1 the Cell Fitzroy 2 should be a pretty good match for you if they have one in your size (looks like they only have XS which maybe too small).

Thanks for the reply guys! I'm leaning towards the Fitzroy for comfort but also want longevity. THe XS should be my size as I'm only 160cm.
However I found the lapa 2.0 which seems like a great deal. If I could upgrade the tyres to be a bit bigger I'm thinking it may be good for longevity even if it isn't the best to start on as a newbie. I am really looking towards getting fit and riding on a regular basis so I'm torn between the comfort or longevity!

Well the Lapa 2.0 is a better bike and I would normally say yeah go for that one... BUT in your case I'm not sure it is the best bike for you or what you want it for (and yeah maybe I'm being a little stereotypical here - lady wanting a comfort bike type of thing). So you really need to test ride them both and see what you think.
Also note you will probably find the Lapa 2 will only fit 28mm tyres max where the Fitzroy 2 will be able to fit larger tyres mak Ing it more comfortable. E.g If it was my wife I'd still go the Fitzroy 2.

Keep in mind that 100kg+ guys can ride 25mm road bikes tyres without breaking their bikes, and the wider the tyre, the heavier it gets and the slower it is to respond to acceleration input. But they will definitely be more comfortable

Thanks guys! I'll just have to test ride them both I think and see what I like better when it comes to actually riding it. With my luck they might not even have the lapa anymore so it'll be an easy pick
