However, if they do, it sounds to be a good deal.

These area apparently polygon bikes - so not too bad. I mean the thing has internal cable routing! Most $600 hardtails still won't have that!bboti wrote:I am always skeptic about these cheap bikes. I just do not trust they will be functional in a few years.

Simply calling it 9-speed implies a single chainring. While mathematically correct, 27-sp. isn't exactly correct either, as it doesn't account for gear duplication through the range. Modern parlance would label it 3x9.li2099 wrote:Is it correct calling it 27 speed where it would normally be called 9 speed?

For this price, it's a very cheap experimentdaazzaa wrote:Since buying my son a MTB, I have sorta got the bug and wish to go riding with him. I'm thinking of getting one of these, specs seem good for the price. Probably double the price nearly for a "name Brand"?
Entry level bike shop MTB will be $500+ for an adult bike

That's what IM thinking, 350 clams might be worth a go. Would this be classified as entry level when compared to a bike shop?

Does anyone have any experience with what Aldi deem to be Medium? How far off is he potentially?

Apologies for the hastily taken mobile phone pics. Photobucket is so painfully slow that will have to do
The mighty Aldi, which will have to live at work for a while.
It's better to ask for forgiveness than to seek permission
Anyway should be ok for some light trail work to develop a new largely off road commute route.
Will need some spd shoes and pedals.
Some tyres for a mixture of road and rocky trail eventually. I'll just put some goop in these for now.
Which tyres are the go for that use?
Are we slamming stems on mtbs too?

I'm a novice and was suggest from here to buy it
viewtopic.php?p=1367247#top\
I am going to take it to a bike shop to make sure it built correctly.
For me, this saddle sucks compared to the bike I have been testing riding over the last month. Also going to get quoted for some hydraulic brake.
The plan was to try cycling and if I still enjoy it in 6 months upgrade to a $2,000 dual suspension bike and gift the bike for my brother birthday
There is Gobs of grease all over the bike

I wouldn't worry about the hydraulic brakes. You are over capitalizing imo.
Just ride it.
As far as taking it to a bike shop just google threadless headsets there will be a youtube on how to tighten them up.
Apart from that I just ran a set of allen keys over everything else. All good

as a novice thought it better to let them check if over,
I have seen some link when Cell and Reid / Kmart bike were not greased properly and not all bolts tighten .
I am also going to get a correctly fitting helmet and some riding shorts/shirts
( the $14 Aldi one didn't fit and look crap)
