Asian Fit Shoes?

Postby Yanmayattai » Mon Jan 02, 2017 4:37 pm

I currently wear (cheap) Shimano SPD shoes that are not very comfy. I am now looking to get a pair of shoes (2 bolt SPD compatible) that are more aligned to my foot shape. After a bit of reading, I have come across the term "Asian fit". From the very little information I can gather - Asian fit refers to shoes that are wide in the front, narrow at the heel, possibly low arch. Is that correct?

I am Asian and most regular shoes I try on tend to be too narrow across the ball of the foot (especially specialist footwear like football boots). Many other shoes also tend to slip out at the heel. Looking at runner shoe sites - I think I have a low arch. Is it really true some shoe makers are making Asian specific shoes? Do I have typical Asian feet? If so, then happy days! After all these years living in Oz I have never realised I had odd feet compared to the majority of the population!

BTW, looking at Bont. Let me know if any other brand is catering for Asians!

I thought Bonts suited mid to high arch best?

I have a fairly flat arch with a fairly wide front and a narrow heel.
Tried on may brands.
Lake standard-widths had the flattest and widest front, but on the 2xx models and upward, the heel was a bit too loose.

As you're chasing a 2-bolt, I'd have a look around for the earlier model CX167? (Lake also do similar 2-bolt current models) as from memory the heel had a tighter design.

Anyway, at the moment I'm wearing Shimano rp5 (2 or 3 bolt). Not as wide at the front like the Lake CX237 (3 bolt), but the rp5 has the tight/narrow heel I need.

Note that the rp5 Shimano 'last' curls up a bit at the front of the shoe, whilst the Lake models are flatter at the front which spread out the toes nicely.
MUFC
