Road Bike ~ $1000 new/used & where to look

New to AUS and looking to spend approx $1000 on a bike for commuting and longer rides on the weekend. Had a CAAD8 at home for a couple of years but would be open to a slightly older bike with higher spec. Any suggestions of where to look and even models to look at would be appreciated.

Also Gumtree for your local area. If you know what you're looking at & what you want you can generally get good deals. But you really have to jump on any that appear to be genuine good buys because it is pretty competitive!
