Bit of a noob question but is there a problem with running different brand wheels front and back?

No problem at all.
People like the look of matching wheels.
I ran different wheels on my training bike for 6 years.

Sometimes circumstances may dictate that your wheels or tyres won't match but me personally, my wheels match but I had to replace my rear tyre (brand new) but I kept the same brand however different type of tyre.
So maybe preferable to keep them the same but ultimately at the end of the day it is about what is practical for YOU.
