Hi all,
I'm looking at getting an Adventure bike or CX as a daily commuter in Sydney that is also capable for going on longer road rides at the weekend but won't get busted up by bad pavement etc.. and ideally not needed to be in a full race position as I do have some back and neck injuries so I like the idea of a slightly more upright position.
I'm a bit of a beginner but spent a few years commuting 20K's on a Specialized hybrid bike before.
Looking for advice on whether this is the right style of bike that I should be looking at or should I stick with a hybrid?
After visiting some shops and scouring the internet two options stood out that are available in nearby stores around my budget circa 1200 dollars (I had wanted it closer to 800 but didn't really like the results I was seeing in that range).
The Norco Search Sora - http://www.99bikes.com.au/norco-search- ... rcoal-2017
vs the Cell Brunswick 1.0 - http://www.this link is broken/Cell-Brunswick-1-0
I would appreciate any feedback on whether you agree these are suitable for my requirements or if you have any better suggestions for that price point.
Thanks!

Cell Brunswick doesn't appear to have any left. I was looking for a low end disc road bike for commuting and ended up with a Avanti Giro AR1, which has a better spec group set than the Norco (Tiagra 4700), but apart from that much the muchness.

Thanks Tez001 - do you mind me asking where you got the Avanti from in Sydney? I've also expanded my budget slightly to look at the Norco Threshold 105 which has some better gear. http://www.99bikes.com.au/bike16-norco-threshold-a105tez001 wrote:Cell Brunswick doesn't appear to have any left. Ideally I want something a bit more upright but I can't seem to distinguish between the two Norco's or your Avanti.

You could consider the malvern star oppy s2 as well. You could probably talk your lbs down to the same price as the norco and it has the advantage of hydraulic discs.

I got mine from Avantiplus Narrabeen. If I had my time again I probably would have looked at the Giro AR2 with the hydraulic brakes. However for commuting the mechanical ones are ok
