Miche cassettes?

Postby cjrich » Tue Jun 06, 2017 10:46 am

Hi all.
I run 52-36 chainset and looking to change my 11 speed block from 11-28 to something with an extra climbing gear. I know Shimano do an 11-32 but this would require changing the rear mech to Med cage (more cost). Miche do a 11-30 & 12-30 cassette but I'm not sure on the quality of the Miche brand. Any feedback appreciated.
Thanks

Excellent quality CJ. I had a special climbing cassette made up for my son to race Tour of Bright. Better quality than Shimano in my opinion.

You do NOT need to change the derailleur to fit a 32T. Just be more careful than usual to avoid big ring/big sprocket cross-chaining to minimise undue stress on the derailleur.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

I have a MIche Primato light 11 speed 13-30 (Shimano) cassette. Works fine, I notice no difference (apart from the lower gearing) compared with my SRAM or Shimano cassettes. Bought from bike24.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I see that Miche cassettes are quite pricey compared to 105 so may just bite the bullet and change the rear mech to accommodate 11-32, probably work out cheaper long term.
I realise, technically, I don't need to change the mech, but this will avoid possible damage should I inadvertently select 52-32.
Cheers
