Rims / Tyres

Postby 1Rowdy1 » Wed Jun 21, 2017 5:00 pm

Hi, I have Cannondale C4, double wall, 32-hole rims, that came with 700x30 tyres, I want to buy wider tyres, how can you tell what width tyres fit on what rims? I was thinking about buying 700x40 but don't want to buy them if the rims can not be ridden with the wider tyres, I know the fork and frame will not be a problem.

The bigger concern is whether your frame & fork can accommodate tyres that size,
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

It all depends on the rim specification (width) and whether your frame/fork will be able to accommodate a big fat tyre.

You would want a wide rim for a 40c width tyre. I would suggest a minimum of 21mm (so external width about 26mm or more).
