Mate's racer test ride - success.

Drop-bars are go.

I've didn't actually know my height, so yesterday was an opportunity to measure myself up.

Height - 176 cm / 5'9”
Inside leg - 81 cm / 2'18”
Fingertip to tip - 183 cm / 6'0”

The bike shop website says it has sizes that would suit me M 55cm and L 58cm. I'm thinking large would be the go.

Not sure if this is a concern, but the Kona website says the same bike (2016 Honky Tonk) comes in sizes 54, 56, 58, 61cm

Same inside leg, but I'm a bit taller. I would aim for 55 - 56cm (I ride either 54cm or 56cm depending on the frame, and am 182cm with an 82cm inseam.

Is easier to adjust a smaller frame up to suit a rider than it is to adjust a too-large frame down to suit a rider.

Generally it is easier to fit a larger person to a smaller bike, than a smaller person to a larger bike. When in doubt, go smaller.

I'd grab the 55cm. Think the 58 may be too horizontal to start with. We can always fit a longer stem later if need be

A belated thank-you to everyone who provided advice about my new bike, especially those who strongly recommended drop bars - I've had it a few weeks now and the drop bars are great!

Here it is, set up with toe clips (there are cleats on the other side, if I do want to upgrade) and a leather saddle which I put on.

I'll probably swap out a few of the spacers and lower the handlebars a bit more.

So nice to whizz along on something light and breezy and smooth!

That is very nice, cool shade of green (I'm very partial to green bikes..).
I think you've done very nicely with that.
