What part of the pump am I missing?
Postby meglio » Thu Aug 30, 2018 2:13 pm
But cannot use it. Am I missing any part, or do I need any adapter?
Many thanks

From the info as stated,
You'd need pumps with presta and shrader like this.Description
Lezyne Road Drive S
The Lezyne Road Drive is a high pressure hand pump made entirely of aluminum for precise and lightweight construction. The barrel, handle, piston, end caps and pump mount are all custom CNC machined.
The HP design makes this a frame pump replacement, easily inflating tires to riding pressure with fewer strokes. It comes equipped with our ABS Speed Flex Hose, which is a Presta ONLY inflation system. One end of the hose is a threaded Presta valve connection with ABS, while the other side has Lezyne's Slip Fit system for fast valve engagement.

That's what I was thinking but the adaptor looked too small, but the adaptor normally has the air bleed with it where this pump has it on the hose.biker jk wrote:Isn't that the presta to Schrader adapter in the photo?
So I looked it up, is this the correct pump? If so its both presta and schrader

My Lezyne pumps are both. You just screw the end you don't need into the end of the pump.

one was both presta and schrader, but a work coleague got a presta only and he used schrader valves so I swapped with him.
The extra knob/screw thing is a adapter which allows the black tube to screw into the top of the pump when in storage. One of my pumps have a separate little thing like in the OP photo. On the other pump the thread for that purpose is built into the plastic tube bit.
why? I don't know, maybe at one point the plastic tube in the OP photo had uses on other Lezyne range?

P.S. Sorry my questions may seem completely dumb as I'm a newbie to this.
Many thanks for your instant answers!

Get a return for the one you bought and see if you can get the version with both.

Thanks, good idea. What do "presta" tubes mean?lone rider wrote:Just buy new presta tubes, probably cheaper.
What will be the difference for me with the tubes I own now?

Nutshelled, you have wide bodied valves and your pump is set up for narrow ones.
You can fit the narrow valves into your rims but there's be a small gap around the valve stem. I have this arrangement on my hardtail MTB. There's adapters available to fill the gap if it worries you or, if you buy Continental tubes, the lock nut supplies has a tapered side which will do the same job.
Hope this helps

The issue is, I bought it long time ago (like more than ~1 year ago), but I never used it. I only discovered the issue now when I wanted to use it for the first time. I don't think I qualify for the return.biker jk wrote:As mentioned, take the pump back to the shop and swap it for the correct model which can do schrader valves (or both schrader and presta). Did the shop tell you the pump you bought was for presta valves only?
Re what the sales person told me, hm I can't recall, unfortunately. And I don't think I saved the receipt.
If it's in a new condition, any chances to sell it for a little bit discounted price? If so, where's the best to sell such stuff?

Can you buy a replacement tube for the pump that has the schrader adapter?

I sent this as a PM also but am not sure if it went anywhere as it is still sitting in may Outbox.
How much do you want for the pump, posted to 2400, paid for with Paypal? I have been thinking of getting one of these for a while ...... but internet buying means they are a bit cheaper than the price sticker on your packaging, so what do you think is fair? PM me if you wish ....... or tell me to bugger off .....

or this one if you want the ABS hose

If you want something to pump up your tyres at home, grab a floor pump, it will make life a lot easier for you.

But you can make temporary ones. Cut the tip of plastic presta cap and screw it upside down to make it like schrader.

Hmmn, my feeling is that these are designed to allow you to pump up Presta tubes using a Schrader pump.meglio wrote:Will an adapter like this do? It would be the cheapest option indeed.
I'm not sure it is reversible, but could be wrong.
