Hey all,
I'm hoping to get some advice on what people's experiences are with women's hybrid bikes. I don't ride very often. I'm hoping to get a bike that is comfortable and easy to ride. My partner has suggested I look at a hybrid bicycle. I've done a little bit of research and have found two but am hoping someone may know a bit more about them. One is second hand - https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/hadfiel ... 1193716116 - It's a Giant Transcend 2W or a Liv Rove 3 http://www.lygoncycles.com.au/a/hybrid- ... /103874611. Has anyone had either of these bikes and able to give some feedback? I'm hoping to start off easy and just ride up to 10km return to begin with but am hoping in a few months to feel more comfortable riding to work and back which is 14km each way. I had a Samson bicycle a few years ago but it was heavy and I grew tired riding it quickly. I'm hoping by spending up to $500 I can get something that may be more suited to me.

Hybrids do tend to be heavy, as you found. They're good for short and occasional trips.
I think the Liv is the pick of these two, but when you do commute 14 km each way, you will probably use a road bike to do that. They are lighter, have plenty of gears - and are much quicker for the same effort. The Reid Women's Osprey bike is just around your budget, and is a very good bike for the money.

If it's the right size for you, I'd snap up that white Giant on Gumtree. My wife found a similar bargain on an almost identical bike (different brand but similar specs, with the mudguards and rack etc), in brand new showroom condition.lilloz88 wrote:Hey all,

For bike path riding, suspension does nothing but add a kilo of weight. Save the money over buying new, and use it if you need to buy things like lights, or padded cycling shorts etc.
When you are driving your car, you are not stuck IN traffic - you ARE the traffic!!!
