flatbar step thru bike thoughts

Hi,
Thought I would ask the brains trust. Jayne, my lovely wife, needs a new bike, as her old giant sedona finally died.

The main requirements are:
step through (Jayne's requirement)
solid fork
700C wheels
the headset to be ahead rather than the quill type
tyre size 32 to 35mm
triple crankset, but not critical, as double would do just as well.
and colour will come into play.

Jayne will use it for around town, but I will put a rack on it. With the old giant sedona, we cycled along the danube river in 2015 and had a wow of a time. I would expect this bike would also be used for a similar purpose in the future.

Trek have a FX 1 step through that we have looked at, and it is definitely on the list of bikes. They come in black or silver.
Apparently Specialized does have a step through sirrus but they are not bringing it into the country this year.
I haven't seen anything in the giant range, but I could have missed one.

So, do you know of any other bikes that fit the bill. Budget is $500 to $1500.

Sedona seems to still exist under the Liv brand. But not in Aus...

Thanks for the link. I have moved to Canberra recently, so trotted off to the Giant Shop at Woden, to find the bike you linked but they have just changed to Avanti. Avanti advise they don't have anything. Went to the sister shop, Giant Belconnen as well, and they don't have that model in stock but were looking at getting it in. Jayne did try looking at a Giant Alight, in terms of swinging her leg over to mount the bike, but to be honest, I think we will keep looking for a step thru. Jayne has to be comfortable with the bike, or it will just become an heirloom.

This is specialized version, but they are not brining it into AU. Somewhat annoying.

Should mention that rim brakes are ok. Its more the frame type, as over time everything else gets replaced as it wears out or breaks.

Any thoughts on this model.

My young daughter had a very similar wish list, and I found a Liv Alight 2 City on sale for $525. It's the only Liv Alight model that is step through, and comes with rear rack and mud guards as standard:




The colour is like an olive green with some gold sparkled paint mixed into it. Quite nice in the sunlight.

Triple crank, nice big cassette for climbing, 32c tyres - I've ridden it around the block (with the seat all the way up!) and it's a really nice little bike. Feels properly smooth and quick, for what she'll do with it it's perfect.

Hi Mubby,
Thanks for the link. It seems the 2019 range has dropped that model, but there are some 2018 bikes still around. I will chaise up tomorrow to see if the right sizes are still available, and if there any at the Giant warehouse facilities. Otherwise, as I said there some around and I can visit those shops that are close to use.

One question I forgot to ask is the rear axle 130mm or 135mm. The reason is that the mountain bike hubs are 135mm.
