Who is going to Bilpin?

Postby robHflyte » Wed Feb 01, 2017 5:31 pm

that is the more interesting question.

join us for the 5th edition of the Bilpin Ride, always difficult, always fun, always satisfying.

Both 116km and 200km courses are approximately 50% gravel, both feature the long climb back up to Bilpin along Mountain Lagoon Road. If choosing the 200km course, expect to finish after sunset.

I would like to join but that starting point is kinda in the middle of nowhere. Best way to get there without a car?

How to get there without a car, I might be riding up the day before and camping nearby.
For a ride that starts in the middle of somewhere, there is the Wheelbarrow Ridge ride starting in Windsor, this Sunday. About 30km of unsealed roads.
There is also the Wyong to Windsor on the 20th of May, I think it was about 40% unsealed.

Shame about the weather this Sunday. The forecast says it's going to rain. Otherwise I would have liked to join.

For the Wheelbarrow Ridge 150 I assume.
It won't rain, who has ever heard of it raining on an Audax ride and even if it did that would just improve the ride experience. Those roads along the Colo look very nice for a ride. Go on, you know you will be disappointed if you miss it.

The LateStarter special forecast proved better than the BOM's and no rain was observed during the ride although storms did move through the area a few hours after the straggler returned not much before the cutoff. Was a great ride through some less frequented areas with some challenging (for some) gravel sections. Support was great and much appreciated. Put it in your calander for next year or perhaps try the upcoming and even more challenging Bilpin ride.
