NEW YORK (BRAIN) — General Motors has announced plans to sell two e-bike models next year.
The automotive giant will offer a folding model and compact model that will feature rechargeable front and rear lights and connected features inspired by GM's OnStar system. The company said the bikes will include a proprietary drive system and "are a result of the revolutionary, flexible electrification technologies that enable the General Motors team to dream beyond the traditional vehicle and give consumers freedom of movement in dense urban commuting environments."

If I wasn't on blood thinners even not-much-of-a-bogun me would love to have a quick run on a decently powered dirt bike!

I can attest that at least in the initial few months of owning an ebike that you get really bloody fit on an ebike as you blast the thing and try to break all manner of land speed records and see how fast it can go on all your old routes.Mububban wrote:A very pro e-bike video from GCN:

Ebikes still tie into the old cycling axiom of "it doesn't get easier, you just go faster." I was the same - yay, I have assistance! now let's flog myself to see how much faster I can commute or crest that hillCalvin27 wrote:I can attest that at least in the initial few months of owning an ebike that you get really bloody fit on an ebike as you blast the thing and try to break all manner of land speed records and see how fast it can go on all your old routes.Mububban wrote:A very pro e-bike video from GCN:
But they also give you the option to tootle along in civvies and not break a sweat if you're just grabbing a load of bread from the shops or riding to catch a train etc. I think they're wonderful things.

The first thing I did with my ebike was find all the back fire road hills that I couldn't climb on a normal bike and use the ebike to smash up them. I still nearly had a heart attack but was able to make it up a muddy 25% slope.Mububban wrote: Ebikes still tie into the old cycling axiom of "it doesn't get easier, you just go faster." Well done!jellicle wrote:I just bought a Trek Commuter+7, mostly for my 18km commute. I was an avid cyclist for 30 years but haven't really ridden for the last 5, as we now live at the top of a steep hill. I rode up it on a Powerfly 7 the other day and that convinced me it was do-able. So looking forward to getting my fitness back!

That said, a slight glitch. The speed sensor magnet isn't positioned properly (or it has moved since set up), so the assist wasn't working properly, I had no speed readout and it wasn't recording the distance traveled. A quick fix, but it's a bit annoying that it wasn't checked (or tightened) properly at the store. That said, even without the assist the bike handled well and wasn't too heavy to ride
