Yup, 510 particularly older firmware is one of the most generous. The 1000 is a little on the stingy side but not too bad unless all your rides are undulating rather than full on climbs. Then you might be 30-40% under a 510!jasonc wrote:I'm doing the same rides as previous years. My climbing percentage is lower than when I had my edge 510 (I now have a 1000). I cbf'd going through on every ride. My climbing percentage is around 1.2% at the moment where it was close to 1.5% with the edge 510TheWall wrote:Cracked 8k this evening with 74klm of up. Elevation gone up with me being in France and riding all the iconic climbs.
They've been awesome fun to ride on, although Bonette was hard work, it goes up so high.

That one's definitely on my TODO list. I fly to France on Tuesday, and will shortly spend 4 weeks cycling through the Pyrénées: lots of elevation there, with several climbs reaching over 2000m.g-boaf wrote:11,100km and 100k+.

As for my total this year, the distance and climbing are almost what jasonc has done.

Definitely do Vars first, the Bonette second and finish off by riding up into Auron. That's a good day of riding.Cyclophiliac wrote:That one's definitely on my TODO list. The descent off Bonette is extremely fast and very open so if you get a windy day you'll be blown around. It's cold up there too. A couple of corners are sharper than they look too. Be careful with your brakes.

Similar to my stack on a railway crossing at the beginning of April. Seriously painful and couldn’t walk without a stick for 5 weeks. However, 5 days after the incident I optimistically threw my leg over the trainer.... well what do you know.... I could ride without pain Perfect. Only lost 5 days and spent the next 5 weeks on Zwift.Arbuckle23 wrote:Got my front wheel taken out at speed in a bunch ride. Stuff happens

177.9km with 4159m up.
Poor weather and too many commitments! Now time to pull my finger out again. I'm almost back level with my goal after being almost 1000km ahead.
End of August totals:
4072.8km 62568m up

December 2015 was the last time I didn't do 1000kms and that's because I was injured. Since Jan 13, it's the only month I've missedRobertL wrote:jasonc wrote:So I'm on a run of 1000km months (32 in a row). We're away the last week of the month. Well, I can't remember exactly when I learned to ride a bike, but it was roughly 42 years ago. That gives me an unbroken run since then of around 500 months where I haven't exceeded 1000km. So my run is longer and more consistent!!

I've had some sub-1000km months over the last 8 years since I started keeping regular records, but overall my average per month has been over 1000km for the last 8 years. 2012 was my best year: I did just over 18,000km.jasonc wrote:December 2015 was the last time I didn't do 1000kms and that's because I was injured. I don't know how much of my grand Pyrénées cycling plans I'll actually put into action (I fly to France tonight), but I plan to average over 600km per week for 4 weeks (if my legs are up to the challenge, anyway), with a fair bit of climbing. I think my main challenge for the 4 weeks starting Friday will be not overdoing it and injuring a leg muscle.
