Looking for cycle computer in Perth

Postby ColinOldnCranky » Fri Nov 09, 2018 5:09 pm

My trusty old Sigma model 1000 trip computer has given up the ghost. I'm not complaining, it has done over 56000km and that represents around 5600 hours of operation.

It is wireless one and that is what I want again. I had a wireless one on one of my unicycles and all that gave me was a job managing batteries - I do a lot of riding and that works wireless to death.

So wired is the trick. Features and model are not significant.

It's a modest purchase and I'd rather just hop into a LBS and gt one off the shelf but my regular few no longer carry such basic stuff.

Any suggestions where around Perth I am likely to get one?

Colin, for a quick easy option - BigW https://www.bigw.com.au/product/repco-s ... p/5620234/

It does the job and for $12, inexpensive.

Thanks for that rolandp. I'm looking for a cheap easy option too, and that certainly is both of those things.

Just wondering, do you know if it does average moving speed (like automatically deducting the time when stopped from the avg calculation). I think that most basic units have done that for the past few decades, but just wanted to check. It's the only real "feature" that I need apart from basic speed and distance.

Thanks Roland. I'll hop into a Big-W and see if they are on the shelves.

$12! If only they sold cars.

That was a bit of a bummer. I got the BigW Repco tripcomputer only to find that it goes only to 10,000kms. Obviously made for the less dedicated less ambitious crowd. Back to the drawing board.

Any more suggestions?

Costs a bit more at $30 at bike bug in Subiaco, still it ticks all the boxes and is a quality cateye option.
