Bendigo or Central Victoria based cycle tourers
Postby AlanHuntly » Mon Aug 31, 2020 2:34 pm
Hi all. Just wondering if there is a formal or informal group of people from the Bendigo area or central Victoria who do cycle touring. I've built up a flat bar touring bike and have cycle touring gear, but I really don't fancy doing touring alone. If anyone can help with information or contacts I'd appreciate it.

I wish you were living near the Sydney region.....been looking for like minded people who are more in my age bracket but nothing up here, just the lycra brigade.
I know Sydney is not the most friendliest bike City around but it amazes me that Melbourne is almost as big, with almost the similar population, and has 3 bicycle Touring Clubs down there.
Some have said to me...well start one, but I really don't have the expertise and knowledge for that but could help someone who knows what they were doing.
Hope you find some touring mates Alan.
Cheers

Thanks Brumby, I've joined the Melbourne Bicycle Touring Club which seems to have heaps of members, and after COVID a wide range of events.

I get all their emails and ride events via email and Facebook etc but not yet officially a member. I was considering making the move down there, but perhaps still may do..not sure, but they are a very active and social club. I just can't understand why there's no such club in Sydney, the closest touring bike club is on the Central Coast near Wyong.AlanHuntly wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 7:51 pmThanks Brumby, I've joined the Melbourne Bicycle Touring Club which seems to have heaps of members, and after COVID a wide range of events.

I am in Bendigo Alan. Been here for 8 years.
I am into the road riding and don't know anything about touring sorry.
There are plenty of roadies though that is for sure.
The central vic vets are into racing but they are a friendly bunch who will know more than I about what goes on cycling wise in and around Bendigo.
Maybe worth contacting them and asking if they know anything?

A quick search in Meetup turns up five social cycling groups you could join.
I'm a foundation member of a social cycling group on Meetup in Brisbane. It's not hard if you are prepared to get involved.
