A big bunch of losers (2009 version of Garfield Principal)

Postby Kalgrm » Thu Jan 01, 2009 4:13 pm

I've split the posts from 2009 into a new thread, marking the start of a new year.

___________________________________________________________________

Original weight (kg): 86.7*
Today's Weight (kg): 86.7
Movement since November (+ or - kg): +2.4
Target Weight (kg): 75*

Okay, I have a new target weight now, and a date to reach it by: 01/03/09. I want to be at 75kg by that date. It's the weekend of the Karri Cup (a 100km MTB race). Realistically, I won't quite get there if I do it responsibly, since it involves losing just over a kilo a week - and I'm starting from a weight just a bit too high - but a bloke's got to have something to aim for.

And although my scales said 86.7kg this morning, I'm hoping a fair amount of the unexpected extra I carried onto the scales today was just water. My weight over the last few weeks has stayed steady on 85kg, even up until yesterday morning. The 1.6kg gained in a day is not likely to be permanent.

Cheers,
Graeme

(Can you guess what my New Year's Resolution is? :))

The latest edition of Bicycling Australia has a training / nutrition plan to lose 5kg in 4 weeks.

Cheers,

Gary

Saw that. If you are planning to follow it, I for one will be interested in your experience in four week's time.

Good luck

I won't be following it as I don't have 5kg to lose! (It feels great saying that after getting my weight down from 77kg to 70kg over the last couple of years!) However I do still need to work on my gut!

I'm adopting the ride longer and further diet - although I do have overseas trips in late Jan and late Feb which will muck up my schedule!

Cheers,

Gary

Nah, I have my own - tried and proven - method for shedding the kilos. So far, so good: I'm down 1.5kg in four days, but the first two weeks always sees apparently phenomenal results when you eat properly. (I replace empty kilojoules from starches and fats with fruit and vegies.)

More importantly, I feel strongly motivated and have no desire to eat the crap which I know makes me gain weight. When I feel like this, I know I'll succeed. It's the same mind-set I had when I dropped from 104kg to 76kg four years ago. Wanting to ride the Karri Cup is giving me the impetus.

Cheers,
Graeme

You'll be shocked to hear how many people will pay twice as much for a bike part, against a comparable product, if it will save them 20 grams of weight.

Burt: "Hi, can I help you there?"

Customer: "Yes, I'm after a carbon bottle cage for my bike"

Burt: "OK, I've got several types over here, and they start at $74.95 rrp"

Customer: "Ok. What's this one worth?" Customer picks out a cage.

Burt: "That one rrp's for $169.95."

Customer: "What's the difference between that and the cheap one?"

Burt: "They're different shapes, and the more expensive one is 20 grams lighter."

Customer: "Ok. I'll take the one for $169.95 thanks."

Burt: "No prob's. Cash or card?"

Customer: "Card thanks."

As they leave I make sure to mention not to drink too much on the weekend.

They NEVER get the joke!
