Hi everyone.
This is my first foray into e-bikes, and although I have been looking at more established e-bikes, Aldi has a special on at the moment for their Estate City branded bikes.

Has anyone tried one of these before? Or, how’s the general reputation? From what I hear, they’ve always been sought after (just from sheer value). Is it worth the hype for $999, or shall I carefully sidestep it?
I appreciate the insights.
Cheers.

Welcome to the Forum. There is a quite long discussion on here re Aldi bike stuff.
I think in summary that rim brakes are not so good on a heavier e bike, you need discs. That's one point. A friend had one of the previous models and just couldn't keep up with other riders. It also squeeked around the bottom bracket when under load. Visits to the local bike shop become a bit expensive after a while.
