Nice bike Warty, I've often wondered what those Gravel bikes are like.
Being down in Bendigo, I think there's a lot of bushland to explore due to it being an old Goldrush town and there's a lot of detectorists in the bush searching for the yellow stuff. One of the biggest Minelab stores are in Bendigo with Gold digger Dave at the helm.
I'm kind of considering for when I move to Albury in a few Months to either go MTB or Gravel and at this stage MTB is looking good in the 29er wheel size and after comparing say Giant to Trek, I'm steering towards the Giant.
Another consideration is the question of whether I should bite the bullet and go e-MTB or get an ordinary MTB with a lot of those big cogs at the back and a single up the front.
I know my Vivente can handle some gravel, especially if I put some better sized tyres on it, my rims can take up to 50mm with the mudguards off but i don't think I want to do that.
I'll looking into it further when i get down there as there's some good MTB tracks down there.
Enjoy your new steed Warty, looking forward to some adventure pics here as you explore the dirty regions of Victoria.
Cheers

I know a Darren here with a revolt but he has a new advanced 0.
I will keep an eye out for one the same as mine and say g'day. I did see one at one of the Harcourt gravel races and said hello due to the same bike. Don't know if that was you.
Mine has not had any problems apart from the giant issue wheels failing to freewheel due to dust induced drag.
Now have different wheels.

Wasnt me at Harcourt, im not race inclined and refer to the above line.... novice !
Hmmm not aware of the freewheel issues you speak of. Is it noticable? How were you aware of the issue? So you swapped your wheels ?

The chain became loose at the top on freewheeling and a lot of chain slap over bumps when freewheeling.
You could feel it when stopped and trying to back pedal. Particularly by hand when parked. Dust got in and began to bind it.
I got a DT Swiss GR1600 wheelset.
The giant wheels are heavy. Strong but the DT wheels are nicer to ride.

Fair enough. I suppose the more you ride the more dust etc and eventually it will catch up to you! I probably havent done nowhere near enough kms yet haha, yet the bottom bracket in my case, concerns me it may have packed it in so soon.warthog1 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 10:04 pmThe chain became loose at the top on freewheeling and a lot of chain slap over bumps when freewheeling.

The fellas at the Giant shop in Benders are pretty good. I cycle with one of them and he is a nice honest bloke.
I'd say drop it in there for them to have a look.

Another hunjy today.
Just ordered a uno 31.8 17° 130mm stem.
Going closer to my roadie.
I dont need wide bars and I don't need to be upright with reduced reach.
Will try that.
May need a lower top cap above the steerer bearings to drop the bars a few mm more.

Pete is the bloke I cycle with.
Good fella and strong rider
I have changed the bars, stem, seat post, saddle and wheels.
Got to be comfortable on it.
The rest is all stock

I know it has gone to the bike shop now so prob a bit late sorry
My pedals, PD-M 540, creaked where the SPD cleat rubs on the pedal.
It has gradually stopped when the cleat wore.
That is a possibility depending on what type of pedal/shoe combo you use.

Thanks mate, yeah I checked my cleats also as I had no idea (tried just using flats and still made noise). All good Peter sorted it out, nothing major wrong. Just a bit of greasing required on rear axle and a few other areas which I forgot what he said.
